TRACY EMIN ASKS FOR 50K in the midst of resession

Tracy Emin has delivered a petition to Downing Street, effectively calling for the sum of 50 million pounds. The artist along with fellows like Lucien Freud and David Hockney have signed the petition , in order to encourage the British Government to buy a piece of art. The work is called Diana and Actaeon by Titian, and remains one of the finest examples of its kind in the U.K.
Despite the huge price tag, the painting is actually being sold at cut price by the Duke of Sutherland. Its estimated world value is 300 million.
Emin stated that it would be 'really embarrassing' if some Russian Oligarch bought the piece.

Art, unlike gold never loses its value. We think its about time the U.K. government stopped investing in killing people and started promoting objects of beauty.

What do you think?
